Inclusive cities, green spaces, accessible and innovative healthcare and sustainable mobility: this is what emerges from the 2nd One Health Report \u201cThe Health of the City and Territories\u201d presented to the Senate of the Republic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The research, promoted by Campus Bio-Medico and carried out by the Piepoli Institute, examined the expected evolution of Italian urban areas by 2050, analyzing the main challenges and opportunities in a context of profound transformations by adopting the One Health model as an integrated and guiding approach to address health, urban and sustainability issues to support and improve the quality of life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe 2nd One Health Report gives us a projection on the future of our cities; the importance of a long-term vision and continuous governance emerges, and sees health, work and the environment as priorities for citizens\u201d \u2013 said Domenico Mastrolitto, General Manager of Campus Bio-Medico SpA \u201cWe must focus on innovative healthcare, on an efficient transport system and on the integration between centers and suburbs; only in this way can we guarantee a better and fairer future for all\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The study has allowed us to outline two possible scenarios for the future of cities; the first, called \u201ccity to use\u201d, imagines large urban centers as centers of economic, cultural and health excellence, to be experienced mainly as places of work and services, with a limited resident population and intense daily flows. The second, instead, called \u201ccity to live\u201d, conceives the urban fabric as a space oriented to promote social inclusion, cohesion between the center and the suburbs and urban areas designed to improve the quality of life, with accessible housing, public greenery and local services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Minister for the Environment and Energy Security, Hon. Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, who sends his greetings to the audience, highlights how the research promoted by the Campus Bio-Medico, whose attention to the social and environmental side of health issues is well known, is of particular interest to the Institutions and Public Administrations and provides a contribution of the highest quality and scientific depth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
